I love movies, and I love baking. I’ve been thinking for a while of trying my hand at blogging about one or the other. So when I found out that one of my journalism classes this semester requires that we blog, I decided to make it happen, and to just go for it and blog about both at once.
Hence, Cinenoms. Cinema + noms. Film + food. Why not?
Here’s what you can expect in the months ahead:
- Movies. To start, I’m currently finishing up my Oscar project, for which I try to see all of the Best Picture nominees (I have three left!). I’ll give my thoughts on those and maybe some thoughts on the Oscars themselves. After March 2 — Oscar night, and also my birthday, so if you know anyone who can get me an Oscar ticket, let me know! — I’ll keep going with other new movies. I’ll also write about some of my Adventures in Netflix — always a good time — as well as some of my favorite older movies.
- Desserts. So many desserts. I love baking, and also eating baked goods — cookies, brownies, blondies, cakes, whatever else I can find. Feel free to send me recipes to try! I learned how to use a fancy camera last semester, and I’m pretty excited to put those new skills to use while documenting some Kitchen Adventures.
- Real food. I am a pretty decent baker, but I’m sad to admit that I can’t cook to save my life. I mess up scrambled eggs. I don’t know how to cook pasta. It’s terrible. But I’m making this the semester I learn, armed with a new CrockPot and friends who say they’ll teach me how to use it. Stay tuned — I’m sure there are mishaps in store.
- A little bit of everything else. Really, I’ve just always wanted to start a “lighter” blog, where I could write about movies and food and books and Hollywood and other things that I enjoy. I hope this blog can become an exercise in learning to write with voice and personality and just have a good time while blogging. I hope you enjoy it, too.
